Only a mile from Guildford town centre, Roundhay has sheltered accommodation for up to 10 residents, with a resident Home Manager.

There are 5 ensuite studio flats and 5 flatlets with a bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. All have their own kitchenette – so you can have as many cups of tea as usual!

The monthly fee covers almost all your costs.

Unlike profit-driven organisations, Roundhay is owned by a charity with a singular mission: enhancing the quality of life for older people in our Guildford community. Our person-centred philosophy means we take genuine interest in your story, preferences and needs – even when you don’t need that much day-to-day support.

This careful attention creates a lively, close-knit atmosphere where meaningful connections flourish naturally. From celebrating special occasions to supporting daily routines, our residents, staff and volunteers function as an extended family – creating a place where warmth, dignity and laughter are part of everyday life.

Make it your home-from-home

Your bedroom here is your own private sanctuary – flooded with natural light, pleasantly decorated and fully carpeted for comfort. You’ll appreciate the convenient kitchenette area where you can keep your own fridge and kettle, perfect for preparing your breakfast just how you like it or fixing yourself a cuppa and a snack whenever you fancy. Each room has its own ensuite shower and toilet for your complete privacy.

You pay for everything, except phone bills, in one simple monthly rental payment. This includes all your utility and maintenance bills, so you don’t have to keep on top of any rising costs.

We absolutely encourage you to make your space truly feel like home – bring along all your favourite things to really make it your home. It’s your space after all!

Your wellbeing and safety is our top priority, which is why every room is equipped with an emergency call system and a personal alarm pendant that connects directly to an external monitoring unit – giving both you (and your loved ones) complete peace of mind.

Beyond your personal haven, our light and airy lounge is the perfect spot to get together with your fellow residents for a bit of telly, a friendly game of cards, or a board game challenge.

On those lovely sunny afternoons, our large landscaped garden is an absolute treat – a peaceful little oasis where you can relax with friends or take a gentle stroll.

Two square meals a day – and the rest!

At Roundhay, we take food seriously because we understand that meals are central to the structure of your day and overall well being. Our commitment is to nutritious, quality food that supports your health without compromising on deliciousness.

Your Home Manager prepares a cooked lunch and supper daily from our balanced weekly menu. You’ll find everything you need in your residents kitchen to make breakfast, exactly as you like it. All meals are freshly prepared in our well-maintained kitchen using quality ingredients, with a focus on fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegetables.

We’re responsive to your dietary requirements and personal preferences – just let us know what works for you. Meals are served at small tables in our comfortable dining room, with your House Manager often joining at lunch – they don’t want to miss out on the chat, either!

Your guests are always welcome to join you for meals, particularly for special occasions when we make an extra effort with decorations, a special tea, cake, and festivities that everyone can enjoy.

At Roundhay, Sunday lunch is always a real family occasion with residents enjoying company and our House Manager’s famous yorkshire puddings!

Getting out and about

Roundhay is just a quick 5-minute bus ride from the vibrant Guildford town centre, where you’ll find: shops, diverse dining options, library, theatre, concert hall, and cinema. There are also various churches across different denominations.

Getting here is easy – London is only 45 minutes by train from Guildford station, and we’re a 5-minute drive from the A3, making visits from friends and family hassle-free.

We sometimes host specially arranged concerts and talks right here at our house. Summer brings our annual Garden Party in Roundhay’s stunning grounds – a perfect event to invite family to. In December, residents and staff enjoy a festive Christmas dinner at a local restaurant.

Health and wellbeing

We have an onsite salon that’s perfect for your hairdressing and chiropody appointments, at a small extra cost.

Roundhay is served by several local GP surgeries, or family doctors can make house calls if they are still able to, given the distance from their practice.

It’s important to understand that while we look after our residents as long as possible, if your needs change, we are not legally allowed to provide personal care at Roundhay although you can source this from third party care providers. If there does come a time where we can’t provide the right care, we’ll help you and your family make the next step.
