Welcome to Roundhay

Unlike profit-driven organisations, Roundhay is owned by a charity with a singular mission: enhancing the quality of life for older people in our Guildford community. Our person-centred philosophy means we take genuine interest in your story, preferences and needs – even when you don’t need that much day-to-day support.

This careful attention creates a lively, close-knit atmosphere where meaningful connections flourish naturally. From celebrating special occasions to supporting daily routines, our residents, staff and volunteers function as an extended family – creating a place where warmth, dignity and laughter are part of everyday life.

Angela Irving

House Manager – Roundhay

Angela was born in the little village of Mapplewell near Barnsley in Yorkshire.

She has worked in care homes and sheltered housing since 1983 and most recently, before joining the Society, she managed an assisted living facility in Kent.

Angela has been married since 1986. She has two grown-up daughters, Ellie and Hannah, and two grand-children, Evelyn and Hamish.

Her passion for cooking, gregarious personality and extensive experience in operating assisted living facilities, helps enable the residents at Roundhay to enjoy a relaxed and friendly supported living environment on a day-to-day basis.

When not at Roundhay, Angela can be found taking lovely walks in the countryside, or maybe enjoying her favourite holiday in Scotland.

Some Kind Words

Quote
  • The house was just getting too much for me, maintaining the garden and the ever increasing bills were getting me down. Now I have a beautiful garden to enjoy without worrying about the upkeep and I don't have to worry about paying all the different bills. It is such a weight off my mind

    Margaret H. (Resident)
  • The sense of community is lovely at Roundhay, I enjoy doing my own thing and have family and friends locally however it's so very nice to know that there are friendly faces to chat to throughout the day if I want to.

    Brian S. (Resident)
  • The wholesome meals Angela produces have re-kindled my love for food again. Living alone I lost the motivation to cook for myself sadly, but sharing lovely home cooked meals with the other residents without having to do the preparation is now the highlight of my days

    Beth M (Resident)
