Maitland House is a small purpose-built residential care home which opened in July 1996. Residents say there is a family-feel at Maitland House. We value our residents and treat them with dignity and respect. Our highly-trained, dedicated and friendly staff take the time to get to know residents so we can provide person-centred care.
Welcome to our house
We provide a home for people over the age of 65 who may need help with daily living, such as getting dressed or personal care. Others chose to come here because they are lonely or isolated and would like the companionship provided by living in a small home, or they may have found that managing their own home has become a challenge.
We offer a one month trial period so you can make sure ‘this is the place for me’. This gives us the time to get to know you and to identify your needs and preferred way of living.
We also provide respite care for those who need a temporary stay.

Home-from-Home Comfort
The home has 28 single bedrooms over three floors, each has its own en-suite facilities. There is a lift to each floor and handrails are installed throughout the building.
The rooms are part-furnished, allowing you to bring your own personal items and furniture to make it feel like home. Each bedroom has a TV and telephone point, together with a call system that residents can use to contact staff at any time.
You can spend time in our bright lounges or in the wonderful garden, with heated gazebo, enjoying the peace and quiet or getting to know other residents.
High-quality Cuisine
Maitland House’s on-site chefs produce a delicious and varied selection of home cooked dishes made from fresh ingredients daily.
Individual dietary needs and food preferences are always catered for by the chefs and our team ensure every meal at the home is an occasion to be enjoyed.
Out & About
We’re in a great location, less than one mile from Reading town centre in a quiet conservation area between Bath Road and Tilehurst Road. We are just 15 minutes away from Junction 11 of the M4.

Maitland House is served by a local doctors’ surgery or alternatively family doctors will be happy to visit the home.
