The founding principle of Abbeyfield England, to which we are affiliated, was to banish the loneliness felt by many older people and we are proud to build on this by offering our residents an active, sociable family environment.
In our homes, there’s always something to do with games, quizzes, reading and entertainment, whilst in warmer weather, we organise days out shopping, visiting local places of interest and even the occasional picnic.
And of course, if there’s a birthday to celebrate we push the boat out, serving a special tea with cake, decorations and fun for all.
At all times, our passionate and highly qualified staff are on hand to help out to ensure every event is an enjoyable and rewarding occasion and they are often supported by local volunteers who share our vision of care and companionship for older people.
We strive to make all residents feel at home from day one. Our aim is to provide a secure, relaxed and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort are paramount. Our highly trained carers work with individuals to ensure privacy and dignity is preserved at all times.
Our bedrooms are designed to give residents their own personal spaces.
The rooms are appointed to help the transition from their home to ours, we encourage residents to bring small items of furniture, ornaments, pictures and photographs. In addition, we offer spacious, comfortable lounges, beautiful, well-maintained garden areas, wheelchair-friendly accessibility and large lifts.
We realise how important regular, tasty, nutritious and well-balanced meals are, so mealtimes are treated as a family event. Residents enjoy locally sourced, freshly cooked food chosen from a varied daily menu, taken in our homely dining areas or in the privacy of their own rooms.
Our on-site chefs and catering staff are always happy to accommodate personal food preferences whilst encouraging the intake of plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.
We believe in having indulgences too, and fresh cakes and pastries are among our specialities! Although main meals are taken at set times daily, light snacks are available 24 hours a day.
We recognise how big a wrench it can be leaving one’s own home and moving into care. So prior to coming to live in one of our homes, we assess all applicants to ensure we can meet their needs in full. We draw up a Care Plan tailored to the individual, covering medical care, dietary requirements and even personal likes and dislikes.
Our experience tells us that honesty and trust from both parties leads to a smoother integration and less emotional or physical stress. So residents are encouraged to participate in the development of their own Plan and we welcome the involvement of family and friends who may be able to add valuable input. A series of voluntary activities are suggested to maintain physical ability, mental alertness, sustain self-esteem and support social interaction with other residents.
Finding the right care for your loved one can feel overwhelming. Our experienced team will guide you through all available options, explaining each service in plain language. We’re here to listen, advise, and help you make the best decision for your family’s needs.
